Waiver of the GMAT Admission Requirement

The GMAT Waiver program is designed for domestic students who have significant work experience. Applicants to the MBA program may apply for a waiver of the GMAT requirement if they have three (3) or more years of full-time professional business experience. Applicants to the Accelerated MBA program may apply for a waiver of the GMAT requirement if they have five (5) or more years of full-time professional work experience. The Barney School of Business is looking for experience that demonstrates leadership, supervision and decision-making, along with analytical and problem solving ability that directly affects your company.

Application for the waiver is a written statement requesting the GMAT waiver and reason why it should be granted. In addition to the letter of request, an applicant must submit all required application documents, including official transcripts, letter of intent, two letters of recommendation, resume, and a completed application form. Applicants are encouraged to include any other material that demonstrates professional strengths such as professional designations, professionally appointed positions, boards, memberships, leadership positions, and publications.

Applicants will be called to schedule an in-person GMAT waiver interview when all required documents are received by the Graduate Admissions office. A designated faculty member will conduct the interview and determine if the work experience is significant enough to warrant a waiver.

If you are an international student applying to the MBA program, the GMAT Waiver requires 3 or more years of significant experience (5 years for Accelerated MBA) in a multi-national corporation that is a member of the Global Fortune 500 group of companies. Please be aware that the waiver requires an in-person interview and that phone interviews are not considered.
